When should we order flower girl dresses?

Question by Rachel: When should we order flower girl dresses?
My wedding is July 31st this summer. I already ordered my wedding dress, and my bridesmaids are all getting fitted by the end of this month to order their dresses. When should I have my flower girl dresses picked out and ordered by? How many months in advance?

Also, what’s a decent price?

Hmm.. I’m not exactly sure.. But I would take upon yourself maybe 2-3 months prior… I would say late April or May…
You don’t want to do it too early, b/c girls do grow out of clothes quick…
I reckon 2-3 months is a perfect time…

A decent price would be 0 or less, in my eyes…
Flower girl dresses can be so pricey.. It amazes me that some are more than bridesmaid gowns or even bridal gowns, when there’s less amounts of fabric being used!!

Question the mother/father what their price range would be… I know it’s your wedding, but you don’t want to break their wallets. :)

What do you reckon? Resolution not more than!

Easter dresses will be hitting the stores soon. You might be able to find something cute/pretty for a more reasonable price.

Certainly look for Easter dresses- you will save a fortune and they are just as pretty- and you’ll have a lot more selection! FG dresses from bridal shops are outrageously priced. The moms of the FG’s will thank you!

i found mine on ebay for $20!! when ever you fall in like with a style, buy one.

I would say 3 months in advance because just incase altarations need to be made or a size exchange you will have time.

Ok pricing depends on what you want the dress to look like and where you buy it from. If you are getting it off e-bay I say 19.00-30.00. Davids bridal (or most bridal stores) 95.00 – 110.00. Another option if you really want to save is rent a dress or like the other poster said watch for easter dresses. JcPennys usually has a fantastic selection.

    Excellent luck!

I know what your saying. My flower girl and jr. Bridesmaid grow up so quick. i an going to take them to pick out the dress they like (and that i like) and i am going to buy them off of the rack! It will be way better and much simpler. I’m going to get this done at least a month before.

I would order it the same time your bridesmaids go for their fitting. Particular styles may take longer than others. Also, I would not question the mother to spend more than $100 on the dress, as she will also have to buy hosiery, shoes, hair products, etc. for her small girl.

My friend is getting married and her flower girls are wearing cream color pettiskirts. They are going to look way too precious. She gets them from the following site.

You should start looking now and determine if the dresses you want are special ordered. There are designers that can take up to 12 weeks to ship a dress. You should plot to finalize the flower girl dresses about 4 months prior to the wedding to allow for custom dresses and possible alterations. The age of the girls has a lot to do with growth rate. The younger they are the quicker they grow. If you have to order early with toddlers you should plot for extra room and alterations. You should check the selection of dresses at http://www.zone4kids.com They have standard and custom dresses in all price ranges.
